I finished off the last section of field that I had been working and then moved to another field.
It's a good thing that I found some keepers at the first place
because the only thing older than myself at the second one was the dirt.
This was all I found at the second field. Click image for larger version

      hey 2ndoldman,
great show mate. i left you a little message in my post `awl or (just) nothing`
      thanks for your response.
yesterday i read on the bbc news page about a guy who inherited his fathers ring, which was his grandfathers before that, that he lost on the beach in South Africa, after being the custodian of it for only 2 weeks, and to cut a long story short (as i cant find the link) a detectorist from about an hours drive away offered to come and help. only condition ` no fee, no reward, not even petrol money`, and he did find it!
it seems there are still great people out there, and you seem to be one of them.
when i searched bbc news i couldnt find the story, but i did find this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-34281544
it must be something in the soul of the detectorist.

      we need more of that!!

      all the best

I thank you for the comment that you left in your post awl or nothing. It is very kind of all of you guys the way that you have accepted me into the forum here.
I think that this is the story you were looking for and I can tell you it makes me feel really good to see these stories. http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34360805

      Found It
When Tim Butcher's father died he left him a ring - but when it was lost on the beach there seemed little hope of finding it.

Very cool! I recently purchased a Garrett AT Pro but haven't done anything with it yet.

I have heard some very great things about the AT Pro. Have you ever used a detector before?

    • #7
No, this is my first detector. I've been watching a lot of Youtube videos to find out what to do with this thing. The best things I've found so are a set of Toyota keys and a 1967 dog tag in my yard. LOL

        I love finding dog tags.
When you start digging more make sure that you post some pictures.
