Sometimes it has been a long day that gets to me.
Mainly it is trying to come up with a different title all of the time.
OH well enough of that on with the story.
This last weekend had it's ups and downs.
Saturday was almost a bust but Sunday was good.
Two days of trash.
A little bit of recyclables. And a crap load of pennies. The only keepers from Saturday were these buttons. Made by Samuel Brothers LTD
Established in 1830 Samuel Brothers (St Paul’s) Ltd are traditional bespoke & military specialist tailors.
They are likely underwear buttons, but I will let you folks be the judge here. Sunday also started out with a button. It required extra cleaning to bring out the details. That is the British coat of arms which was used from 1837 -1952.
Until 1906 the major military presence in Victoria was the British.
"The May 17, 1906 departure of the Royal Engineers and the Royal Garrison Artillery signaled the end of an era -
they were the last British troops stationed in Canada.More than 300 strong, the troops had been stationed at Fort Rodd Hill,
Esquimalt and along the coast to protect Esquimalt Harbour from naval attacks.
Their arrival in 1893 had marked the beginning of a new agreement between Canada and Britain
to share the cost of building modern, permanent artillery batteries."
I wish the back marks were a little better to be able a proper date range. The next keeper was a nice silver dime.
