  • 1910 was a very good year.

Today's post is a tale of two sites and meeting up with a friend.
I had been out at my first site trying to squeak out a few more keepers.
This is a site I have visited many times before.
Nothing spectacular was found there on Friday.
Mostly old spent shell casings. Except for the 303.
The head stamp markings are K II C which make it a WW1 era Kynoch model 2 cordite round.

I did find one thing that is kind of cool.
This is my third calling card printing plate.

My battery was starting to show low when I received a text from another digger named Jamie.
His text said that he was in my neighborhood and hanging out with the hobos. Click image for larger version

So I knew exactly where he was and said that I would be right over.
After our howdy does we started swinging the coils around in earnest.
We both knew that on this site you have to clear a ton of surface crap to see what is hiding below. Click image for larger version

My first find of note from here looked for all the world to be a small lighter at first.
Here it is after 1/2 hr in the tumbler. Click image for larger version

It was at this point that I realized that I had found my first Vesta case.

It is not silver. but who cares when you find a first. Click image for larger version

I hit a sweet sounding surface signal. Grabbing the pinpointer to locate it in the leaf litter I had to call Jamie over to look.
After moving only one leaf this is what I found sitting on the surface Click image for larger version

Well let me tell you both of us were pumped.
So we set about concentrating on an area no more than 20" by 20" and the next find was. Click image for larger version

Jamie had asked if he could swing his detector over my targets to see exactly what type of signals I dig.
Both of the last two finds were nice and clear. But it took him a while to hear the tiniest of squeaks in the next three.
This one was nestled in the ground with a nail. Click image for larger version

By the way the odd shaped item is either a 1944 or 45 steel nickle.

Great Day. You made some nice finds and got to hang out with a friend. That's a bonus.
