  • How did you spend Black Friday?

I must be getting old because my knee was giving me the royal go to H$!! yesterday.
so I chose a place that I knew would have little to no trash. Click image for larger version

The bending for recyclables was almost non existent.
And yes that is frost on the shell casings that were left outside over night. Click image for larger version

But some decent finds were made in spite of the lack of targets.
Like Thursday my first target was another LC.
I thought that it was a toasty mess. Click image for larger version

My next keeper is interesting for it's meaning.
The torch and the "V" design on the 1943-1945 coinage was designed to promote the war effort.
It had the words "we win when we work willingly" stamped in morse code around the edge.

ID:	184769 This surprised me because when I found it I immediately thought that it was plated.
But after an all night tumble to see if the plating would wear off it is a silver charm.
And a heavy little sucker too. It weighs more than the brass buckle in the recycle pic. Click image for larger version

It is 28mm X13mm and I am thinking that it came out of a smooth bore rifle as there are no riffling marks on it. Click image for larger version

The head stamp is K for Kynoch and it has a B at the bottom. Click image for larger version

Near the end of the day I looked up to see two Orcas blowing off of the shore line but I was unable to get a picture. Click image for larger version

Well, that certainly is not how I spent my "Black Friday" What did you do Bruce? Oh-nothing special, watched a few Orca Whales and found a pound of silver. Just a normal day G E J M. (green eyed jealousy monster)

I spent mine on the beach. Didn't find a thing, but spending time with my dog, the pelicans, sandpipers & tundra swans beat fighting the mallers and brawlers.

Keep me away from the brawling mallers every day of the week and I am a happy guy.
" tundra swans" Is that anything like our white feathered flying sh*thawks? The unknowing call them seagulls here.

Bruce when a Seagull drops a bomb on you from overhead because you thought it would be a good idea to feed them bread at the back of the Ferry you have a bad day, when a Tundra Swan drops a bomb on you it white washes your whole body.

Some folks call these large, elegant birds whistling swans for their distinctive calls.
Tundra Swans wintering in Chesapeake Bay feed almost exclusively on clams that they dislodge from the mud. But the gulls will try to snatch the clams from their bills.
