  • When do you quit digging pennies?

The last two days I did another park cleanup here in Victoria.
Next year I think that they should start paying me for the service. Click image for larger version

I mean that in all seriousness.

If I am right lead and copper are toxic in the soil as well. Click image for larger version

Top that off with another 112 pennies and that is a bunch of lead, copper and zinc removed from the parks. Click image for larger version

    Tuesday's only keeper was this.
I don't know what it was but I got one. Click image for larger version

The first keeper on Wednesday was this unusual knife.
It took hours in reverse electrolysis, several go rounds in the tumbler and a wire brush to finish it off.
It is a tiny little sucker but quite thick and heavy. Click image for larger version

On Wednesday I had had enough of digging pennies after 3hrs and moved to a new location where I found. Click image for larger version

Which puts me one more closer to the goal I was challenged to strive for this year. Click image for larger version

And once again as I am heading to the car to call it a day.
I pull this silver arrow earring. Click image for larger version

Today was another no go day. Unless I wanted to wear a wetsuit to dig in that is. Click image for larger version

Sadly yes but I am still waiting for the golden moment when I get a stone one.

Hey Bruce, I don't know what it is either but it's a nice one.

Amazing you can find that many places to detect.

Actually I keep going over the same places.
I have 6 parks that have maybe 25 acres in total and I keep crisscrossing back and forth, up and down then crosswise.
Detecting is a game of inches. First your coil must pass directly over top of the item and secondly you have to be able to read the target. If there is something else above it or larger and very close the keeper will be masked. Time and patience is the key.
