Has hit the west coast with a vengeance.
I don't need any fancy weather predictions.
Or colourful radar satellite images to show me that it is wet out side.
A look at the running water in my back yard. And a glance at my rain-gauge. To tell me that kneeling in the muck is not going to be pleasant for a while.
But I did receive a message that gave me the courage to try.
Digging with a vengeance between bouts of down pouring rain.
Got me very little in the way of keepers over the last three days.
Pennies galore, junk jewelry, and parts of toys for the most part. If only, is a popular lament.
And it would have been nice if that toy cannon had been whole. There were a few highlights though.
And one of them was meeting Dave aka Status guy who is a new detectorist who really needed some help.
We got together for a couple of hours on Saturday.

While out with him I found this.
Unfortunately here is another "if only".
Sadly it is a cheap white metal pin.
"If only" this had been whole. I might have a better idea of what it was.
My original thoughts about it being a gaudy earring.
Changed when I cleaned it up. "If only" this were in better condition. And as it should look. I don't know how this got here after the war.
But I have a feeling it may be a memento brought home by someone returning from a peace keeping mission. "If only" I had taken my usual before pic.
But my hands were to covered in mud at the time.

Looks like an excellent day in spite of rain, I am not that dedicated just the shallow pennies for me.

Going for the shallow modern coins is not wrong. I will do that many times in order to clear the surface so that I can find the deeper stuff. And don't forget that there is a pile of modern jewelry in the top 3" of dirt.

Well, Bruce, you always manage to find a little bling during your hunts. The writer in me can't help dreaming up some pre-WEII cloak & dagger tale that involves the bling & the phennig. Very interesting...
