  • Mystery Bronze Fitting

This is strange object that I considered as possibly Roman or even Iron Age horse/chariot fittings.

The bronze is very corroded but stable. It has two lugs surviving, but the stumps or marks of the other two are on the corresponding corners.
The square the sticks out, which resembles a dice in shape and size, is held to the lug plate by a pin that passes through and forms a rivet. There is some movement still between the dice and the jug plate; so clearly they once swivelled freely.

    Ideas ?

If it were more modern I would lean towards reigns guide but once again I will leave the identification to others with more knowledge than I.
Sunny both this and your other mystery finds are great finds. Thanks for sharing these my friend.
