What a difference a couple of days can make.
This was the view out my back door last Wednesday afternoon. Click image for larger version

I was pushing to be out and probably should have waited another day.
The wind was blowing right off of the ocean at 35 miles per hour and the rain was going sideways at times.
When you are addicted any fix will do though.
So there I was soaked to the bone and loving it.
The finds were nothing spectacular but they were better than a kick in the pants.
First up was a battered and broken dog tag. Click image for larger version

Sunday was a bit of a late start for me.
And when I pull up and get set to hunt the first thing that I see is Jamie.
He had been there early in the day and already had three silvers in the pouch
A 1902 little nickel and 2 sailboat dimes but decided to join me as I traipsed over the hill.
Before he left for the day I had only found this. Click image for larger version

As he was leaving he asked if I thought that I could beat his 1902 for age.
My reply was that I hoped to.
Not long after he left this popped out. Click image for larger version

Sadly there was nothing good for either of us other than some clad.
This brings us up to Monday.
And by now I have done a pile of digging for the last 3 days. Click image for larger version

There is one odd round ball there.
It is not actually round,,,, more cylindrical with flat ends. Click image for larger version

The junk pendant is there simply due to the unique reversed E that is etched into it. Click image for larger version

ID:	241133 The gold ring is the beginning of the sad find.
There is one find that I made on Sunday that you don't see.
I had found a seated dime prior to Jamie showing up on Monday.
And that was the only real keeper to be had by either of us until I chased an odd penny signal.
It was showing deeper than 4 inches so I cut a decent plug.
Stuck the pinpointer in the hole and although my plug was 5 inches deep the target was another 3 inches down.
When this popped out of the ground I knew that it was not what I was hearing. Click image for larger version

ID:	241134 The actual target I heard turned out to be a Stinking Lincoln on it's edge only 2 inches down.
But I will take this as a gift for digging a penny signal. Click image for larger version

ID:	241135 OK time for the sad ending to my story.
When I put that ring in my pouch I could feel that dime sitting there.
A half hour or so later a fellow walks up to me carrying a toy detector.
This is the very one he was carrying. Click image for larger version

He explained that a lady friend of his had lost her gold bracelet and he was taking it over to here place so that she could try to find it.
He then asked if my detector could find gold so I showed him the ring.
A half hour later I met back up with Jamie and showed him the ring also.
When I finally get home and start my clean up I realize that the dime was missing.
I spent the better part of five hours today searching for it to no avail.
That dime fits inside of the ring with room to spare and pulling it out seems to have been a costly mistake. Click image for larger version

ID:	241137 This dime made a long and arduous journey.
From New Orleans to the California gold fields. and finally up to Victoria with the miners heading to Alaska and the BC interior when it was finally lost.
Only to be lost again withing 3 hours of being found. Click image for larger version

Sorry to hear that Bruce. In my days of coin collecting, any 1800 era coin that you could read the date and mint mark was classified as VG and your's is probably a higher category. Not to beat you up any further, but hows about going back to the area where you first showed it and retrace your steps with the detector. I know, I know - you probably already tried that. Sorry. Anyway, as usual you have a super post. Thanks for the interesting walkabout. ...Chuck

I will definitely be back there again looking for it Chuck. It will eventually show up, I just hope that it is me that finds it and not someone else.

Those are some awesome finds, I would never leave a wrench laying after digging it up. You can go behind these loggers down here and eventually find a whole tool set.

When the company is paying for the tools they don't give a hoot what happens to them.
