  • A decent day for recyclables.

I spent a few hours on one of the nearby beaches at low tide yesterday.
In the hopes of finding at least one decent collectable item.
The brass, copper and lead were truly abundant. Click image for larger version

The only thing worthy of keeping was not really that old. Click image for larger version

Is that a cork in that whistle or a stone Bruce? Back to the dregs of civilization huh...?

It feels more like a stone. I think that it might be clay like the old marbles.

Is the bead in the middle of all that brass, copper, and lead plastic?

I think that it is a glass bead.

So do I Gary. The best part is that it works perfectly too.

The bead had been noticed but it looks like a trade bead and a lot of them are found down in the states below you.

As I said earlier, the bead is glass. The odd shape suggests that it is older.
I would be ecstatic if it was a trade bead. Click image for larger version
