  • Ding dong. Avon calling.

1956 Avon commercial for the Avon Calling Campaign. Avon Lady rings tubular doorbell, although doorbell is never seen.

That is exactly what Thursday felt like.
I started out at site number one again and the finds started out with and Avon ring.
And then about 20 feet further along there was another ring.
They were both surface finds just barely hidden in the grass.
About 30 feet further, and I spot what looked like a dump of goodies. Click image for larger version

It was getting close to the 2 hour parking limit so I headed towards the car.
And wouldn't you know it the goodies finally showed up. Click image for larger version

I think that is is a keeper anyways. Click image for larger version

ID:	272737 Friday rolled around and for the first time in a long while site one was a bust.
The only thing worth mentioning is this quarter.
And how the hell it ended up looking like this is anybody's guess.
Three or four rounds with a lawn mower is my guess. Click image for larger version

The finds started out with what I had hoped to be a gold ring. Click image for larger version

ID:	272739 It took a couple of minutes to find the missing top piece.
Well it turned out that the ring was just another plated ring.
I have found gold filled and rolled gold before but never 14K gold shell. Click image for larger version

ID:	272743 In the interest of trying to keep the pictures to a minimum the next three finds are lumped together.
I had a target that sounded quite loud.
The first thing out of the hole was the 31 dime.
I said to myself that there had to be more in there.
    The 18 came out next.
While I was tamping the plug back down my coil swung over a target 2 feet away and out popped the 06 IHP.

Once that little grassy area had given up it's treasures another small area beckoned.
The only thing there was a recently lost silver ring.

I was getting a bit tired by this point but never one to quit while on a hot streak I soldiered on.
This find had me completely stumped.
It looked like silver but the tone sounded like gold.

Right after pulling it a surprise visitor showed up.
    PocoBill was in town unannounced.
He usually calls ahead of time and arranges for a hunt.
Well when he looked at the ring his words were "I think that it is gold".
Well he was half right, and so was I.

This came out right after Bill left and I was all done for the day.

Sunday saw Bill, Eric and myself out early as the weather was going into the crapper in the afternoon.

Johnny, the 20 pence is British. The eagle item is top right. Click image for larger version
