  • Sunday went to the dogs.

I am always amazed by what has been missed by myself and others.
No matter what anyone tells you about a site my opinion is that there has to be something that they missed.
This post encompasses my finds from Friday to Sunday.
Friday's keepers started out with. Click image for larger version

ID:	275113 I am curious to know if any of you can pin down a date line for this button.
I do know that up until 1827 the royal Navy buttons were flat buttons.
I also know that Victorian Royal Navy officers buttons had a lined background and rope rim between 1843 and 1891. In 1891 the lined background was removed from officers buttons and they retain a plain background to this day.
What I do not know is when the two piece buttons were first introduced.
PS this button also has no rope border. Click image for larger version

It was to dark by this time to get an as found picture of them so this will have to do. Click image for larger version

The most unique find, which sadly it is not whole. Is the partial serpent musket side plate. Click image for larger version

ID:	275119 Speaking of crumbled cookies, Sunday was almost a total bust as far as keeper goes.
First thing Sunday morning GeofunMW aka Mike texts and says he has the need to find something old and can he come out to play in the mud with me.
Sure said I and gave him a spot to start while I got ready for the day.
Well that place ended up being someones cast off penny bank.
    They were absolutely everywhere.
We had both had enough after an hour or so so we went to a popular dog walk area that has potential.
Neither of us found anything to shout about.
And the dog tags sadly were not old enough to get excited over. Click image for larger version

ID:	275120 The only shiny bit to show in the dirt for me was a nickel.
It was sandwiched between two pennies and my first thoughts were that it was another US war nickel.

The ladies Acqua Indiglo watch was a fun find and just needs a battery to work.
My fingers were crossed when something started rattling around inside of the compact.
But it was just the applicator brush.

That strange flower item in the lower right is actually a broach.

I can remember as a child when every little, old lady wore a broach. They would immediately give me a bear hug & scratch my face to pieces with it.
mow I am a little old lady & there's not a single broach in my jewelry box. How times have changed!

Bruce - I always love your posts but I'm really amazed at the coins you turn up. You always have a variety of denominations and quite a spread in years, not to mention nationality. Keep em comin'.

I was thinking the 1944 Jefferson was a war nickel and you confirmed it later without me having to look it up, Those are neat with the big mint mark on the back. Some more interesting finds.

You get the most S mint marked coins, just unreal.

Well Johnny I am not complaining.
        Except for one find.
It was a 1901 US quarter and there was no "S". Now that is just not fair.
