  • How do you build your 2017 treasure pile?

Being a proud Canadian I did it this way.
First I laid out the 217 silver coins from this year. Click image for larger version

Just an FYI for those that do not remember, the center piece is made from a 1809 US Half dollar. Click image for larger version

I hate digging pull tabs so I don't chase gold.
So it is always a surprise when it happens to end up in my pouch. Click image for larger version

Here are some other things that I like to find.

Who the heck doesn't like finding spending money.
This was my third bank deposit.
There is $626.95 sitting there. Click image for larger version

ID:	279260 Sorry Mike. I had to start 2018 clean so those pennies went to the bank.
You see Mike has been buying all of my pennies for the last two years.
And this year he purchased $112 in pennies.
He gladly obliged my request to bring all of those pennies by for this picture. Click image for larger version

That $112 when added to the rest of the clad coins brought my spendable coin total up to $1404.95 for the 2017 season. Click image for larger version

ID:	279262 Now some of you also know that I recycle all of the nonferrous metal that I pull from the ground.
This year I made three runs to the recyclers.
This was the last run of the year.
And when this was added to the other two runs the recycling put an extra $760.10 in the bank.
Do you guys see those buckets of lead?
What a total rip off lead is at the recyclers right now.
They are only paying 3 cents a pound.
I am really glad that my friend Micheal took me under his wing and showed me how to make lead downrigger fishing weights.
This year the fishing weights brought in $400
And there is 138 1/2pounds of lead waiting to make way more than the recyclers will pay.
For those of you who want to see the detecting total in one place.
On top of the treasure pile I have put $2565.05 into the bank this year. Click image for larger version

What a productive fellow you are.
This should motivate some to get out there and dig up some treasure.
You found more silver in one year than I have in the past ten!

        PS: I like finding GOLD!

I would have to be out on the beach after midnight to take advantage of the tide at this time of year on the west coast. 🤢🤢🤢

That's an awesome post there Bruce. I particularly like that center piece in your token post. Never saw that one before. I always enjoy seeing what you turn up in the coin section, especially the older American pieces. By the way, that 1809 Half dollar cut out brought back memories. When I was riding subs in the Navy, we used to use jewelers files and cut out coins like that to pass time. We especially liked the older British pennys. Thanks for sharing Bruce.

No - back then they were pretty common to find, especially in jewely like necklaces etc. They just kinda disappeared over time.

I have come to despise trash. Before I started this hobby I was clueless as to how much garbage there was everywhere.

That is likely because of the amount of time I put into detecting.
I can only imagine what you could find with the same effort Johnny.
