  • Procrastination post #1. Time to start catching up.

Boy does the time ever fly when you are just enjoying life.
I can't believe it has taken me this long to sit back down and post some finds again.
This will be a long one with lost of pretty pictures so sit back.
    Relax and enjoy.
This is week one of my two week hiatus from posting.
    Starting with Sunday March 4th.
Nothing special here but it was a fun park hunt. Click image for larger version

ID:	291378 Monday I was at a loss as to where to go and while driving around I noticed that the tide was actually fairly low.
Well it didn't take me long to pull on the rubber boots and go for a shoreline stroll.
And boy was I a happy camper that day. Click image for larger version

It is kinda weird but the pocket watch says "Made in German"
And that oiler tin sprung an oil leak in the tumbler that took forever to get cleaned up. Click image for larger version

Sadly the base was in the tumbler with all of the oil and had to be thoroughly cleaned. Click image for larger version

Now here's a question for you folks.
Are these part of a sash style buckle? Click image for larger version

These are interesting to me because of how they look.
to me they look like they would possibly be slid locks for a small cabinet or jewelry box.
What is your opinion? Click image for larger version

The wallet has been turned into the cop shop.
There was no money in it. However I am sure the young lady would have been happy to get her identification back.
And even though this beach walk was not as productive I still managed a hunk of silver.
Well it does have silver in the label. SILVEROID that is.

Well the tide was finally right for one last beach walk.
However I had to kill some time at a nearby park first.

I have searched for information on S. C. S. Co but I have not had any luck.
Do any of you know anything about them?
My feelings on this is that it might be for the tip of an umbrella.

Not sure on The Buckle, but what's The Silveroid Thing? I googled that and Flatware and watches came up but not that thing. Oh,, wait a minute, scholls/foot? Even more confused. Good Find's BTW

Don't be confused Josh. Dr. Scholl patented his orthotic way back before the soft comfortable shoe inserts that we wear today.

“Born in 1882, young William was one of 13 children. Considering these two facts, I’m going to make some assumptions:

          1. He was the recipient of many hand-me-down shoes.
          2. Shoes were probably uncomfortable back then.

After working at a shoe store to pay his way through medical school, William became interested in podiatry. He went on to patent a shoe arch support in 1904, and founded the company, Dr. Scholl’s, to sell it. The arch support was a big hit with the public (most likely because shoes were still mighty uncomfortable), and throughout his long career as both a podiatrist and chairman of his company he designed and patented more than 1000 foot aids! Our hats (and shoes!) are off to you, Dr. Scholl, for ensuring that we all have happy feet.

Great thread Bruce. Thanks for sharing.
Q; Any clue/indication in wallet as to when the individual may have lost it? Can you imagine being contacted years after the fact that your wallet has been found?

My gut feeling is that it was stolen very recently Dave. It was waterlogged from being in the saltwater but none of the identification was damaged.
We get a ton of international students here in Victoria who take English lessons. The young lady could have been a university or college student or she could be attending one of a half dozen private schools here that specialize in Asian student English glasses.

That was a great trip Bruce. As usual you always have interesting junk and some not so junk as well. Besides recycling and cash-ins, what do you finally do with all the other stuff you find. You'd need an additional room on your house just to store the stuff you've found over the years??

I have been pairing down my collection of stuff Chuck in preparation for selling my house this spring. Some of it is going to the next fun hunt (which is being taken up by a group of people who want to keep the fun hunts going) and a lot of it is simply going to the recyclers for cash.

Bruce, Your threads are always educational. I had to look up Marmite since I have never seen or tasted it. We have a limited diet here in Ohio.
        Good luck out there,
