  • I must be stone blind.

I can spot a marble from 50 feet away.
And glass bottles are no brainers.
But for the life of me I just can not find a pointy rock.
For the past four days the tides have been right for beach walking even though the weather has not been the greatest.
While waiting for the tide to go out on Monday a short park hunt was tried.
Nothing great showed up so I headed for the mud flats.
My first stopping spot was where I found the railroad padlock.
On Tuesday it was off to a place I affectionately call spoon hollow.
Wednesday it was back to the other side of the gorge to marble beach and then Thursday it was back to spoon hollow.
This is the haul from those four days.
The marbles at the top all came from marble beach in the pouring rain.
And each of the spoons came from spoon hollow. Click image for larger version

Now there is nothing really fancy about those spoons but some of them would make great spoon rings. Click image for larger version

ID:	294918 As you can see it was not just trash/recyclables that came off of those beach runs.
I did manage another bicycle head badge, this one is for a CCM bike.
I placed the hook there in the hopes that some of you might know what it was used for.
As you can see it is still attached to leather. Click image for larger version

And this is after the initial cleaning to remove the outer crust.
Which by the way is silver sulfide so don't toss it in the trash
This is also the best shot of the piece due to the fact that the word Canada actually disintegrated in the last cleaning process.

ID:	294927 Thursday is the reason for the title.
I have been using the 5 X 10" Coiltek coil instead of the larger 9 X 14 Coiltek coil lately.
However it is impossible to see under most large rocks so on Thursday I decided to move every rock before moving on to the next one.

And each of my keepers for that day was totally under a rock including the bicycle head badge and the hook.
This is what my pouch looked like at the end of the day.

And these were what made this day the best out of the four days.

The X pin is either a sweetheart pin for the 10th regiment or the Gordon highlanders.
The Highlanders did have an X in their background.

Bruce, your pouch is always a cornucopia of surprises & treats! I clearly see why you call that one spot Spoon Hallow, but I'm interested in finding out why there's such a concentration of old spoons? Was it a former eatery that dumped scrap tableware? Or something else?

I honestly don't know Deb. There is a small area there that has a high concentration of just about every concevable item that was simply tossed over the bank.

Thank you. A good number of the bottles (maybe 50%) I find on the beach show up when I am digging for a metallic target. I will take a twofer any day.
    Working...
