  • One last post before I fly out in the morning.

Today was spent cleaning and packing.
So yesterday was the last mudflats hunt before the Radioworld event in Toronto on the 9th.
I didn't exactly knock it out of the park but it was still fun.
My initial target area was right back where those WWI pins and badges came from.
Sadly no more militaria showed up but there were a few goodies left none the less.
Here is the good, the bad and the ugly.
    And everything in between.

You all know by now that old padlocks are a favorite of mine.
I just wish that this one had not been a saltwater find.

Do any of you know of a reason why a brass safety pin would have a permanent sliding whatsit attached to it????? Click image for larger version

These were both fun to find.
The sash buckle came from the initial search area and the I LOVE YOU bracelet came from farther down the beach.

It would be really nice to find something that was lost and not tossed.
Because this would have been very nice if it were whole.

In my mind the best find was an eyeball find this time.
    This clay bead is interesting.

The hole is 3 millimeters and pristine one the other side.
And 4 milometers on this side.
Hopefully that is not due to breakout when a metal drill made the hole and not a stone drill.

Wonderful post Bruce hope the bead turn out to be NA! You helped me solve a mystery. I found a artifact with NLM co written on. Just did a google search and nothing came up.? Saw your saltwater padlock find had NLM on it yes! Looked up NLM padlocks and voila Norwich Lock Manufacturing Company 1872-1898! Thanks! Have fun in Toronto.

The best part of finding old stuff is figuring out what it was. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

The safety pin was probably ornamental . Lots of women’s jewelry had that . Have a safe flight .
