Today is the first day of rifle season in Kentucky. My dad was getting ready last night, and he grabbed a backpack from the innermost depths of our garage. He was surprised to find this Civil War era wrench, and a beat up 1857 flying eagle cent inside! He dug the wrench on private property near Gettysburg, where the 23rd PA infantry was based, and waiting for entry to the battle. He dug it up a long while ago, we can't even remember when. But it's still pretty cool looking. I am sure with electrolysis, I could actually get it to be functional again.
I am sure, ya'll have had experiences like this before.
