Wow what an interesting find maybe someone's lucky coin fell out of their pocket. Congratulations on the seated half dime!

I am stumped. In Kentucky, they have found Roman coins and Welsh petroglyphs and so far nobody has come up with a good explanation. Maybe it was an old coin collector who lost it. That's my best guess.

All in all, you have done superbly this year. Fantastic finds!

That's wild, Bruce. I suppose a coin collector lost it, but 7" down? That's wild, Bruce. It reminded me of Gloria Farley's old tale of "the coincidence of the coins":

I don't have an exact date yet, however it is Byzantine circa 524 to 604

If any of you can explain how this got buried 7 inches down in a park in Victoria BC you have a great carrier ahead of you predicting lottery wins.

The last find will not seem like much.
It is just another beat up, over used coin.
Until you realize ghat it is my first seated half dime.

    This is it.
As of this post we are all caught up.
These last two finds were not kept for the last because they were the best.
They were simply the last finds made before I left Victoria for the east coast.

This odd looking coin turned out to be my oldest coin find by far.
It actually beat the 1551 English shilling by more than a thousand years.

As you can guess, I was stumped when it first came out of the ground.
And the initial cleaning did nothing to improve my knowledge of it.

So what could be smaller in diameter than a dime?
