As of this post we are all caught up.
These last two finds were not kept for the last because they were the best.
They were simply the last finds made before I left Victoria for the east coast.
This odd looking coin turned out to be my oldest coin find by far.
It actually beat the 1551 English shilling by more than a thousand years.
As you can guess, I was stumped when it first came out of the ground.
And the initial cleaning did nothing to improve my knowledge of it.
So what could be smaller in diameter than a dime?
And a the same time be more than twice as thick???
Just to tease you a little more , this is a group shot of the days finds.
And finally after quite a bit of cleaning the face side was revealed.
