I was all excited when I saw the word silver on this spoon. I started cleaning it and I knew something was wrong. Turns out German Silver is actually an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. Of course you metal hounds already knew that... I'm still learning. The mark before the german silver 24 has me scratching my head.

Thanks Bullheadtee, My collection of metal odds and ends slowly grows. I started with pointy rocks and bottles... the addiction has grown to include shiny metal and marbles. Just glad my wife tolerates it all.

The design of your spoon is called "fiddle back", for obvious reasons.
I believe that places it in the very early 1900s.

Bruce! Thanks for the information. This particular area has turned up some cool metal and hand tooled bottles. Looking at many inches of snow here in Ohio, so it may be awhile before I can get back out there.

We are likely in the same boat my friend. Snow has been on the ground for a week and a half and it doesn't show any release from below freezing temps in as far as .y weather app shows.
