My son Seth got off work early because of rain . So back down the hill with a metal detector will get better pics after a little cleaning . Maybe a 22 about 4 inches deep weird ?

That's a neat find. Wonder if it would work after some cleaning?

A makers mark is on that pistol... likely on the bottom of m

the barrel.... may be to far gone with rust to get a true I.d.

I'd recommend calling someone up later to check the serial number.
The last thing you want is someone to see it has a serial number used in a killing and being sent to jail for a crime you didn't commit.
I mean, no one's getting their hands on my guns, and I'm sure you'll say the same thing... but you can't be too sure nowadays... (Where's the roll eys emoji? Imagine that here.)

It would be more like a suicide because of where found . No roads no trails my son will go back and grid the area no need for CSI lol . What's found here stays here . .

From the size of the cylinder flutes and their being so close together I'd guess .22. The makers disc don't ring any bells for me. If you can be sure it's not loaded you might try electrolysis . really does wonders.
Just blew up your photo and the cylinder bolt notches look a lot like some older cap guns ?

Makes you wonder about it’s history. Someone was probably pretty upset when they lost it.
