    About 5 in. long, triangler shape shaft. Wonder what this was used for.

          could be one of these they have changed design to fit various usages. Lighter loads didn't need heavy spikes. so perhaps it was used in a track that was hauling ore carts. Have a look at the patent.

                Yap I agree with Hoss too . Wayne drags home old track nails and ones like you have from underground tracks here . Old military stuff .
