metal detecting. we found some pretty cool stuff back in the 70's and 80's. the medal was found at the old fort site. which is now a old school. that has been turned in to a museum.

Looks like your medal is missing the ribbon loop and a hole was drilled to hang as a pendant. Amazing piece of history. Here’s a pic I found of a complete example

yes he sent and got copies of this mans war records. his name is on the back of the medal.
