  • Quartz Arrow Points

I had a small chunk of Rose Quartz that i wanted to work. Deb's gift gave the push to try my hand at knapping this quartz. The Rose Quartz didn't flake like flint and chert. This was more like crushing the material into shape. In the last picture, Deb's gift Morrow Mountain artifact point is on the far right.

Wow, very nice. Can you tell me a little more about how that material was to work? When you say crushing it into shape... can you explain?

Thanks Mark, I used my Ishi stick much as I would work chert but the pieces I removed were not smooth flakes but rough pieces.

Awesome work Ron! I've been hoping you would work some quartz.

Looks good Ron! They are just like the ancient ones so crushing equals food all the same...
