  • My First Knife! (Made of Georgetown Flint)

    I recently purchased some Georgetown Flint to make a knife with and I was working on it, then all of a sudden CRACKKKKKKKK.....and a little piece of me seemed to die LOL
    If both artifact and hunter lie idle, they will not meet.

    Darn! Abrade, abrade, abrade! Got to keep those edges tough or that's unavoidable.

    Hey Eannis: If you're not breaking them you're not making them. We all break points. As Josh said abraid often: never take a flake from an area that was not abraded. Also your platform should be at the bottom third of the edge. Very often when I am using percussion strikes I use an Ishi stick to set up a platform before striking.

      Hey thanks for the advice Ron! I often strike in the right place, or intend to...sometimes I find myself missing the intended spot, but I'm sure this is corrected with practice. I definitely need to abrade more.
