  • race day points

yesterday i got tired of watching the race, dont much care for it on tv anymore
so i decided to go to my little shop of horrors and listen to the race while i did some knapping

i made a couple of side notch points from brazilian agate.

some folks always ask how long it takes to make a point
well it took me 2/3rds of the race to make these two little ones
they started out as slabbed preforms

      thanks Josh
this stuff was amazing to work and im not a big fan of working agate
if its not heated just right its a bugger to flake well
this stuff was heated about as perfect as you can get
its got a nice glassy look every time you take a flake

ive got to make two more just like these yet and then they will get hafted onto arrows that will be given to my tattooist as gifts for his grooms men next month when he gets married

So it was already "cooked" when you got it? I'm trying to figure this stuff out...

yes they were already heat treated when i got them from a friend of mine
not all of them are cooked this nicely.one could really use more heat.but i will just do the best i can with it and see how it turns out.

Hey Tim, I spent a few days with company and haven't been on line to see your beautiful work. Those are real nice looking points. I know what you are saying about the heat treated Brazilian Agate. I have purchased Brazilian Agate that didn't flake well and I have cooked some of my own that didn't flake well. It's some of the most beautiful lithic material and a lot of fun when it flakes well.
