It's going to be like that. Flat-matte finished. I artificially age the wood after I cut and plane it, and it will be a dull grey/ to light brown in a few days.

And the final result is this. Visually stunning....when you walk in the front door, your eyes are drawn up and towards it immeadiatly. My wife came home and caught me staring at it from my chair. I had the tv off at the time. She loves it too.

So sorry for your loss Jethro, that's really just heartbreaking man... That's some beautiful woodwork, and the rustic is my kind of decor. Being a carpenter/ remodeler for a living, I completely understand how that whole "old inside the new" thing goes. I've never used keystone in my work but its a cool way of making an accent piece. Love how you incorporated Rons work into those though. That's just to cool. Thanks for sharing!
