  • 3 ½ " Tiger Point from Ancient Spall

This 3 ½ " Tiger Chert Point was knapped from an ancient spall. I know that people heat treat tiger chert but I prefer knapping the raw rock.

Beautiful point Ron. What would heat treating that material do for it, sides maybe making it more brittle, maybe??

Hey Chuck, When modest heat of 450 F is used this rock flakes a little better. When high heat is used on this rock the material does become brittle and does not flake well.

Thanks Jason, I did some exercises with little three pound weights and the next day it was hurting again so i had to back off a bit on the reps.

What a beauty! You just get better & better. I developed a frozen shoulder last winter & quickly learned any shoulder dysfunction or injury creates excruciating pain that affects just about every aspect of daily activity. Hope you get better soon!
