    Wow and translucent to boot. Where did you get that banded obsidian, Ron? That's a really beautiful material and it can't be cheap. Unfortunately we can't see the flaking from that position. Nice work.

      Thanks Chuck, I purchased some large spalls of banded obsidian and the material was very reasonably priced. However this was a small ancient spall. Sitting on the cill it just looks like plain obsidian: You have to catch the sun rays just at the right angle to see the real beauty of this material.

                    Thanks Frank, What I find really cool is the fact that the ancients made points from the most beautiful lithic material too. I have several ancient artifact points that were made from this material.

                  Awesome as always... you must have a ton of knapped items, I can only imagine. If I knapped as much as you I'd charge for lessons and sell points.
