i didnt have a run in the semi today
so i decided to take some time to do a little flint knapping
i started off with a piece of blue fiber optic glass
i was going for an eared eden
it was 4 inches long,a bit more than 5/8ths of an inch wide, perfect lenticualr shape, and no hinges or anything on it
a perfect blade going
then on my final pass it broke, but not near where i was taking a flake from.it broke about an inch behind the spot i was working smh
then i grabbed a tab of a some nice pdernales flint and tried a little direct percussion
had it nice and thin, then one hit just a smidge to high and it broke in half too
so i said "screw this",grabbed a blocky twisted piece of rainy buttes from my debitage pile and went to town on it
not caring if i broke it or not since it was just debitage any how
after a bit more than an hour i had a finished piece
an eared eden
rainy buttes always makes for some old ancient looking pieces'but it is new, fresh off the pad today
this piece is nearly flawless,so i will show both sides of it
usually i have a hinge or step on one side and only post the good side
like most of my pieces,it still needs edge work
and eventually will get it,but not today
thank for looking
