  • Pedernales and knives

I traded somebody on a different forum a dagger for some sinew. He sent the sinew, and a bunch of sample flakes plus antler. I am very grateful , so I will give him another knife. But anyway, that is how I got the Pedernales. I knapped, of course, a Pedernales. It is 2. 25 inches long. I made the deer bone knife a few days ago, and the drilled knife last night. The handle is Northern Red Cedar from Wisconsin. I will be knapping more tomorrow. I might make something from one of the Burlington flakes he sent.

P.S. sorry about the crappy pics. I will try to take better ones tomorrow.

I think the pics are plenty good ! I like the deer bone knife..For years I’ve been trying to acquire a big enough piece of Libyan green glass, for a good knapper to make me a blade... If I acquire such a piece, could you some day be that knapper ? JJ

A blade made from impact glass!!!! Now that would be something special.

I almost acquired a large shred , one that I thought was large enough to make such a blade..I lost out on the bid , it was a large sum to gamble with ...

Take your time, I want to become better at knapping before I tackle that. I would be scared to death I would mess something up.
