  • Coastal plain Brier creek and Flint River

    Just checked on a cooking of Coastal plain chert. The front piece of Brier Creek turned out really glassy and one of the prettier pieces I have seen Click image for larger version

      All the brown points in my arrangement is Flint River chert points, there is a bunch of Brier creek points but they are white and green and multi colored points, some of the more colorful is flint ridge.

      I contacted Curtis Smith about some of his flint river/coastal plain bifaces. After the Harrisburg show, I will give him another call about them.

      Bi faces cost a little more but you don't have as much waste material that you pay for

      6 hours at 200 then turn up to 300 for 6 hours then 10 hours at 450 deg. then I just turn oven off and don't open it for a day this is how I do c. p. other cherts take different heats.

      Interesting to say the least.Did you experiment to find your own formula ? I know that Cody complex did heat treatment and others too. I wonder how they figured it out .. Most of the Cody points found around here ( Not a whole lot ) seem to kind of glow. It’s hard to get a really great pic of the heat treated ancient points....
