I found a very long article on flint knapping, tools etc. It showed examples along the way, and took me hours to read. Basically it was like a college class! Now the NA people did not have all the fancy jigs or copper knapping tools so it makes me think that each and every artifact is a work of art, no matter how rough it may appear. The NA people were more so looking at function other than appearance ... So any G 10 artifact is really a miracle ! Ok, I’ve educated myself on knapping with no intention on taking up the hobby only to have a greater appreciation of what we find. Lastly, at the end of volumes of info, there were pages on self protection while knapping. What really struck me is when gun flint making came into play. How old time flint makers got sick and died of silicosis ! I never imagined that micro shards of flint getting stuck in the lung and doing so much damage ! Even more damage than coal miners... That silicosis thing was really scary and I hope all knappers protect themselves ...Anyway, there are just a few ways to skin a cat, but a thousand different ways to Knapp !
