ID:	424394 back in december a friend sent me about 25 lbs. of agate nodules he has collected on the river (most are tennis ball sized ) .
so worked a couple pieces , one with golden moss in it and the other a very light pinkish to yellow translucent color.
It was a nice day yesterday the snow was melting and even some grasshoppers were out and about on the deck.

Agate makes some nice looking pieces when an expert knapper is working with it.

Thanks guys i am surprised they turned out as good as they did i busted some of the rock up with a spalling hammer and heated the flakes in the oven ( in a cast iron skillet) for 4 hours about half of the flakes popped but some made it. too cold outside to mess with the roaster.

How do you go about working a tennis ball sized nodule? Also, what temp did you heat the flakes at?

I would just slab it on the saw but it was to cold for that so a just took a spalling hammer and broke up the nodule and then heated the bigger flakes.
