  • Tallahatta Quartzite Point

Today I slabbed some of the Tallahatta that Johnny gave me.
The rock was too big to fit in my slab saw. I took a spall off and knapped that while the saw was running.

Really grainy? Does that help your “bite” or “traction” when pushing, pulling, pinching your flake?

Most of the work on this point was percussion. Quartzite doesn't flake as well as chert. However this Tallahatta knaps better than a lot of other quartzite.

That is a nice one, and I agree it's a pleasure to knap that stuff.
