  • Beautiful Edwards Slabs

This is one of the Edwards Plateau Cherts. This one is called Pedernales. This rock was a flat slab, two inches thick. That makes it easy to cut up. I have about half a ton of Edwards cherts and a lot of it requires no heat. I took a test flake on one of the slabs and it's ready to knap. Best part: It's an inexpensive rock. Some of these slabs are over six inches long and will make nice knife blades.

So you have a saw I'm supposing. That's awesome! You're right, those will knap up nice.

Thanks Ethan, I have a 16 inch slab saw and a couple of trim saws. I've been using them for several years. Obsidian slabs are quite inexpensive but chert slabs and preforms run rather high priced.

Thanks Caleb, My trim saw is water cooled so I'll wait for a warm day to cut preforms.
