Yeah, it's a bummer that we don't have any, but I do like looking at quartz. I would like to learn how to knapp it better.

Technically, when flake comes off in chunk as Quartz does, called “wedging”.

I obsidian too, ever since dug up those 5 little spalls (confirmed 5 outta 6 obsidian with amateur scratch and streak tests). I can’t remember if ever shared my theory how got my backyard: the last People who lived here were the Yuchis (aka Ugee or Euchee) and the Kiokees, who settled along the western bank of the Savannah River (where I live). They were renamed parts of the Muscogees (later, Creeks), who apparently been driven from the Red River area of the American Southwest by neighboring hostiles. Perhaps these little obsidian spalls traveled with them!

Narrow, I’ll work on lil’ Obsidian song for us to sing…

That's really neat. Did you ever post pictures of them?

It would blow my mind if I found obsidian in my area. Tennessee does have some interesting lithics though.

Awesome point. Every time I work with a different material type, then go back to obsidian I always think " I REALLY love obsidian" lol!!

Ive got some raw nethers and tried working a piece of it the other day, was like trying to wrestle an alligator compared to the obsidian I had been working.

Yeah, sometimes obsidian works so easy that I feel like I'm peeling a potato.
