  • The Improved Shouldered Point

The Improved Shouldered Point: Ha... If that doesn't spark some conversation I'll have to give up. The Solutrean shouldered point was knapped on a blade. This 4.5 inch bifacial point was knapped with a lenticular cross section which makes it tougher than a flat blade.

I had a piece of Edwards that was mostly chalk. It had a narrow strip of good chert in the middle of the rock. I will eventually knap a few of these narrow points.

It's beautiful Ron. Your improved design looks more aerodynamic, but the old boys had you beat on radar avoidance. 😉

Thanks Caleb, The old boys were experts at avoiding the radar but terrible at trying to fly under the radar.

outstanding work Ron , those thin narrow blades take quite a bit of skill to do without snapping them .

Thanks Bret, I made more pressure flaking passes than usual. I didn't want to push my luck with heavy pressure.

Hey Brad, I enjoy sharing my stone points and I'll send along a couple others you'll like. No trade needed but I would never turn down a gift.
