  • 5" TX Root Beer Blade / White flakes

    I'll try to explain what you're looking at here:
    This rock is full of thin white flakes.
    The two "Snakes" near the base are just the edge of two big white flakes.
    The Root Beer Chert is translucent but the white flakes are opaque.

            Hey Clay, I sure wish we knew what the white flakes were. This rock looks very similar to KRF. It has been theorized that the white spots in KRF are fossilized plant matter (perhaps peat moss).

          The fossilized plant matter add a lot of character to that one Ron . Nice work but I love that pattern. Remember the double colored one I sent you ya knapped . Donald called it Darth Vader .
