  • Joined AACA, Authenticating attempt?

Well not a complete registration as site doesnt recognize me as an existing member and it may not work as last time i tried (like 10 years ago) i got no reply with the old registration. Dont know if i am waiting for an admin there or i filled something out wrong, well see.
I seen something in the authenticators topic about people having to be members of aaca to authenticate N.A. Artifacts. So, just maybe its possible I could authenticate (in future) even though I dont have anything at the moment like a loop or scope. Just an idea. :dunno:  I know my local artifacts well enough to not be intimidated.
Changed title out of respect for the man in charge of the organization to not get wrong idea.

Josh, you are accepted as an AACA member. It ONLY means that you have read the rules and you agree to follow them. It DOES NOT make you an authenticator. Your experience in your region and area of collecting may make you an authenticator though, if you authenticate your own collection. We all need to authenticate if we collect.

Looks like a good site, what do you all find useful there? Any suggestions what to read?

Maybe I can start with my own stuff then? If that's how it works. :dunno:  I can be (an authenticator) now, right?
Newbie to the site, could use direction.

I always thought it was an organization whose members agreed to not knowingly sell fakes and repros. So a lot of eBay sellers belong to the AACA in order to instill confidence in potential customers. Meteorite dealers/collectors also formed such a group to instill confidence on eBay. Careful, though. Once you are an authenticator, if that's your final goal, other collectors, like me, should you get one wrong, are then allowed to tar and feather you. And then we're allowed to run you out of town on a rail.

Maybe you just didn't understand me chase, but I am serious and am getting a scope or loop whichever comes first to start studying the fine detail of my authentic points i have been finding and reading about the last 15 years.
Maybe its my fault you don't take me serious. Maybe i just had this coming from you.

Josh, I am sorry, I just take what the AACA does very serious. This is one that has for me, had the back of the community. Cliff being both president and the person that runs the site. I respect him and what he stands for. I did not mean to say you were going to abuse anything but your title of the post? Maybe because I woke up and saw that was a knee jerk reaction.
