Nice coin. I found a 1781 2 reals CarolusIII in a corn field back in CT.

18,000 soldiers and officers in 1918 Camp Dodge Iowa. I read an article about this and they created a special tower to stand on for the photo . They say it was 105 degrees in July when this photo was taken. Had to be rough on the men because WWI uniforms were wool. Because of the distance there are twice as many people in the torch as are in the rest of the body.

Carving bullets was a popular pastime in Civil War camps when the heat of battle was on the near horizon. It gave the mind and hands something to do, and calmed the nerves. My Civil War ancestors perhaps carved a few bullets, as they were all carpenters and metal workers. I carved these two from real Civil War bullets that were found in the reserve area at Chancellorsville Virginia. The flower actually won a carving contest, and I got to spend $100 at their store for more books.

Out of my personal collection, a 1798 8 reale, or "Piece of eight".
