My little girl Sophie, she is 15 years old..Also is is full blood mini. She has heart failure now with a leaking valve. Also, now she is almost blind. She is like me, just don’t want to take any meds.. The vet says she has maybe a year left. All she really knows is that she wants to be with me.... True love in every way. 10 years ago her back was hurt ,it was her spine and drug her hind legs. I refused her condition and wrapped a towel around her belly and worked with her every day for hours, re-setting her hind legs up and making her walk. It took six months but she regained the use of her legs! The vet was amazed. I’m old now too,so she will probably be my last puppy. I’ve seen elders pass leaving behind their dogs, it’s just horrible how they mourn. When she passes, I’ll be devastated of course and now I’m doing all I can to help her upset the vets odds She loves rebound ball game in the garage every night.. Old dogs and children, and watermelon wine.... JJ

Ya know Hoss, most people don’t know that the human race would not be where we are at today without dogs. We relied on them, they helped us hunt.Dogs warned us of (And still do ) of unseen danger. The list goes on ...Something I’ve found really interesting is how a dog will adopt a child and become a natural protector . Also I think it’s instinct in some way children recognize this on first encounter...So many stories of how a dog will stay with a lost child or go seek help....

Awe, she's precious. I have a fur baby that is 15 1\2 and he is blind. He has issues now that he's developed since the cold weather moved in .Had to put my Christmas tree in our foyer so he would not run into it . He still wags his tail though. He loves his mommy and I certainly love him .South Carolina

She’s doing well for 15. She has already beat the average by far. I’m glad you stuck with her through her disc disease. I have seen others come back and wałk after months, but most owners give up. Good job with sticking with her. You didn’t want to try lasix?South Dakota

I could not give up, and it wasn’t that hard to wrap a towel around her belly and just lift her back up on her weak legs. I think she knew I was helping and she never gave up either . The vet said that her breed commonly hurts a disc in their back from jumping off a chair. The vet never offered any type of surgery , just steroid shots..
