Has anyone ever ordered a cast from Lithic Casting Lab? I know they're the best in the business, but I've never even held a cast before, so I'm not sure what to expect. Can casts break easily? Are they translucent? What if I want to handle them for a "show and tell" session. Would they hold up to that?

I ask, because my grandmother already commanded me to write a Christmas list, and I've been looking online, and cannot find anything quality, or Paleo for less than 50 gumdrops. With a cast, I can have multiple Paleo pieces, for WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less money than one original piece.

What are y'alls favorite cast? I kinda want that purple Allen Pete has on the website... But with so many choices, who knows what I'll end up with.

My brother gave me on for my birthday last week. It feels very durable to me. Looks very real also. Only the weight gives it away.

    A long long time ago
    I can still remember how
That music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
    But February made me shiver
    With every paper I'd deliver
    Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step

I can't remember if I cried. But I remember hearing it on the radio parked in the empty parking lot of the Adler Planetariume making out with my girlfriend looking out over the lake .Truley the day the music died.

These were the ones I was thinking about, but of course, there are more choices, and I can't make my mind up.

You may have noticed that all of these are Paleo, and 1/12 of these are Western. The St. Louis Clovis is from Alabama.

The Kiker Clovis. A friend of mine and fellow knapper Jerry Kiker aka Freezecracked, his son found this in Texas maybe 4 years ago and Sterling Z made the cast.

I have many of their casts, about all you show really. They are made very well and will stand up to handeling. Dont know what they are made of but have dropped one on the kitchen floor and did no damage. They are very hard and don't think they would survive bending. Really like the clovis and paleo points never been blessed finding one I settled for casts just to admire the flaking and variety. If the real one is translucent the cast will be. They do a great job. My favorite is P-4 the hixton clovis.

I have several of his casts, as others have said they are great. Invaluable tools if you want to learn correct flaking, etc.

I will say that the only significant difference is that some casts tend to be a tiny bit thinner than the original on some relics. It's more noticeable on some relics than others.

Like the Alabama clovis! And the Fenn cache point with that diagonal flaking would be a close second!wonder if that Al clovis is the belgreen clovis I heard about years ago?
