It is the truth, at least as far as most vertebrate paleontologists are concerned. Birds are avian dinosaurs. All non avian dinosaurs became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous. Avian dinosaurs survived the extinction boundary, and we know them better as birds. I still regard this as one of the most delightful scientific discoveries of my lifetime. Whenever I see a flock of mourning doves feeding on the lawn, I see a little “herd” of dinosaurs.

Yep, yep! My daughter’s chickens fascinate me—the way they move their heads and look at me. They murmur constantly, and it’s very soothing....until you pick them up! Turkeys and chickens are the birds supposedly closest to genetic makeup of ancient ancestors. And, the velociraptor allegedly remarkably resembled a 60-80 lbs turkey, feathered, and only about 3’ tall but 6’ in length with tail (feathers)! Absolutely one the coolest things discovered our lifetime!
