  • Reoccurring patterns

    I have recently found that a lot of the engraved pieces I am seeing all have a few. Things in common one of the most prevalent is the triangle/pyramid. And diagonal lines rectangles and wavy vertical lines wish we had a Native American Rosetta Stone .

    I agree. This is a pendant I have from Long Island. I always wondered what the triangle may have represented

        I have 4 or five pieces with that on them I'll post pics. Anyone with similar feel free to show them on this post for comparasons!!!

          On a side note I also find knapped pyramidal. Effigys quite often !!! I have to dig them out because I never wanted to display them as folks would believe I was daft 😆

                I posted this a while back what I call a map stone portable Petro. Wish I knew what it means. Maybe I have it backwards I don't know. No It's not a tepee, we had Longhouses and wigwams . Kim

                  Crosshatch patterns are among the most common design elements in both petroglyph panels, and portable petroglyphs. I’d keel over if I picked that up and saw what I found. Killer!

                The zig-zag design element is very common, in both portable art, as seen on this RI pendant found by a friend, and on petroglyph panels, as recorded by myself years ago at a site on the Providence River, RI.
