Nice Gretsch! I had a g5435t electromatic for a while, ended up trading it for a Kramer Baretta and sometimes regret it, but I play more rock / metal / type stuff and the fast skinny neck feels better.

I've had over 30 guitars in my short life, only ones I've never sold and hung onto are a '58 epiphone korina explorer, Washburn Acoustic my dad bought on tour in 1979, and a Gibson SG my brother has held onto for the last 10 years. It's sometimes more fun buying and selling them than playing them haha.

What do you run for an amp?

Well, it was nothing really crazy, Fla.Hillbilly.

He was a touring drummer for a while from 17-24. Then became a fireman when he had his first kid.

He played for a lot of local bands, then would tour with the country band he was hired in. I think that one was called Joe Pain and Debbie Lynn show, or something similar. Still some Joe Pain records on YouTube. Might have played with Johnny Paycheck live a few times, I'd have to ask him again.

I recall him mentioning going to Nashville to record some stuff too, that's where he met the guys from Alabama, and they knew the Platters needed a drummer and tried to get my dad to drum for them in Vegas, but my dad just met my mom and didn't want to go to vegas, so he quit and became a firefighter.

The guitar was purchased off Joe Pain on the road when Joe broke his Takamine and went to the nearest music store to get anything that'd stay in tune. He bought the Washburn and after the next few shows he decided he hated the guitar and was ready to sell it for dirt cheap to afford the next guitar quick. So my dad offered $75 or something like that and he took it.

Nice post North. Iโ€™m posting this reply sitting less than two miles from the old Gibson Kalamazoo factory.
