  • Area Maps

If you are into maps these are a great way to help understand why a site is where it is and figuring out where else the resources would have been for living/hunting there. This one is of the area where we are finding artifacts and campsites.

Great idea RDN. I use topo maps in conjunction with google earth.
    Near the PA/Ohio state line

Great resource but doesn't take into consideration that the course of rivers, creeks change drastically in some areas, mountains "settling" etc over 10-12 thousand years. In my area of FL the coastline was over 100 miles out in the gulf from where it is now during Paleo times. Interior of FL was dependent on springs and sinkholes which over time have come and gone.

A creek runs thru our neighborhood, dumps into lil’ lake/big pond, before running on steep downhill. Used old and new maps to try to determine creek source, but realized even “old” maps couldn’t come close to showing what there 5k yrs ago! Still, know close-by Savannah River musta been there some form for long time since we sit on fall line. Do love maps, tho!

It'd be nice to have the crystal ball that shows areas back in time...but that ain't gonna happen.

    Love the maps.
    Another great resource is, https://beacon.schneidercorp.com/
Not a topo, more like google earth and not all states included but if your state is and particularly the counties you search it shows property lines and who owns the land.
Great resource for finding out who and getting permission.
