Yeah boy! Notice that heavy body. No lankiness there. That's the wolf genes.

Yeah, that's a pretty good sized one. His nose is wider and more wolf like or dog like than a more pure blood coyote imo.  I've saw a lot of both, in Ky. Some are smaller with a more typical coyote appearance.  Others are bigger like that in Ron's photo.  I've saw them with solid black coats and one day I saw two together.  One very typical looking coyote and the other had white patches on his head and chest, Very obvious hybrid.
Now I'm sure the ones here are breeding with feral dogs and pets. But I don't think they have wolf genes this far south...do they?

Hey Josh, I just read a report today that said the Coyote Wolf hybrid is a lot farther south than was previously known.

When I was much younger, my brother and I would sometimes go to the top of Castlewood Cliffs which is across the Meramec River from the Wolf Sanctuary. Back in the 80's you could go there any time of day or night. My brother taught me how to do a wolf howl but it was more for the benefit of the lady's . Anyway, we could start howling from the top of the cliffs and occasionally we would get a response and a large pack of something would start howling back. We assumed it was the wolves, maybe it was a pack of coyotes in the area, not sure. It was pretty cool none the less.
