  • 3-31-10 1st Snake picture of the year

Seen my 1st Snake this year today....................in a Creek,
the Creek water is not very warm!
    Plain-bellied Water-Snake.................2-1/2 to 3ft long

It was laying in the Creek bank shadow...........

Found that double-thinning striked heartbreaker jewel in that Creek also

We went on a river walk on the first of April and seen three!! Gotta love the ones you nearly step on because you are staring at the ground not even thinking about snakes, especially considering one was a 5 foot Black snake. Which nearly made me mess my britches! I don't have a problem with snakes, as long as I know they are there, but when you nearly step on one that size it does give you a little shot of adrenaline, especially when water moccasins are very common in this area. I also nearly stepped on a 4 and 1/2 foot black snake, and seen a little garder snake as well. The reptiles are out!! Seen more turtles than you could shake a stick at.
Oh, and in my neck of the woods the ticks are already out, got my first one mid march. Probably going to be a bad year for them.
