    I'm thinking it's a cottonmouth! But eyes look round so maybe a racer?

        water moccasin has cat eyes unlike the water snake that mimics its markings. Many water snakes have lost there lives because people cant tell the diff.

        Yeah boy, I know! That cottonmouth was swimming in my pool! I think water moccasins/cottonmouth same snake, or at least same species—— water-loving pit viper, not scared nuthin’….!

        Or at least not flee from you! They stand their ground (lay their leaves?), and just turn their big ole heads, watching your every move (as you try figure out if hoe handle longer than their coil)!

      That’s a yellow bellied water snake. Not poisonous but can make you hurt yourself getting away. I have seen some really grumpy ones…

        That seems like a positive Id. Wasnt matching racers,rat snakes etc. It was a good foot and half I'd guess.

      Since we talking bout yellow-bellies, and I happen to not have herpetophobia, and am kinda herpetophile (?), gotta show favorite most delicate lil thing. Usta find all time, but not so much anymore. Southern Ringneck with beautiful orange belly:

        Those are little cuties. We still have lots of them here in South Florida. The thatchy grass in suburban neighborhoods is perfect for them.
