    Neat stuff! I've always figured some of the cool drilled teeth from Florida might have had a functional use vs being beads.

      Interesting article, thanks for taking the time to post it.

      Though I am a little skeptical on extrapolating tool type usage based on microwear patterns on shark teeth. The fossil shark teeth that I've looked at show a lot of "in life" wear scratches, these types of scratches might be hard to differentiate from implied tool use scratches.

      (Cheated and just used hotmeld glue, too hard to drill)

      Drilling to lash the teeth (in addition to pitch gluing) for butchering tool or weapons would make good sense, if teeth outnumber good lithic sources.

      Looks like the Moche fished for sharks on the opposite side of the continent also.
